We’re all hands on deck and will continue to work throughout the night. We’re steadily making progress on server issues and stability, as well as working through a second DDoS attack. He confirmed that the Overwatch 2 servers were hit by a second DDOS attack and that the team were actively looking into the problems. To make matters worse, the Overwatch 2 servers were then hit by a DDOS attack in the early hours of this morning which resulted in even more server problems for players who managed to get into the game.Ībout an hour ago at 06:00 am CAT, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller posted a tweet confirming the server issues. Twitter users reported queues of over 40,000 users and these waiting times stretched to three hours long. Overwatch 2 went live at 22:00 in SA last night and by the look of things, people all over the world sat and watched the loading screen for hours on end while they waited to get into the game. Blizzard just cannot get it right even after hosting countless beta and network tests ahead of game launches. This adds to Blizzard’s infamous track record of other server-based games like Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, Diablo 2, Diablo Immortal and others. That’s because Overwatch 2 was yet another Blizzard game that the company failed to launch correctly. For those who had electricity to download the game in SA, you were probably met with a server queue of about 40,000 people. The same can be said for Overwatch 2 which launched late last night. The company has a nasty track record of launching games without being prepared for the server congestion which results from players all trying to get into the game at the same time. The words “Blizzard” and “server issues” are often combined into one sentence.
